  • Twice monthly children and youth with spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, juvenile rheumatioid arthritis, achondroplasia, amputations and missing limbs, polio, dislocated hips, club feet, spinal cord injuries, or other mobility issues and their friends will attend club meetings to explore and develop:

    • interests and communication skills about a variety of topics, strengths, and talents

    • meaningful play and leisure activities

    • self-respect, empowerment, and community service

    • spirituality through Bible study, prayer, and relationship building with God and others

  • The pilot year is starting with 6 to 8 year olds. Club members may progress into the next higher age bracket until the age of 18, when they may become adult volunteers.

The club is a safe, confidence-building oasis, a break from any societal focus on their anomaly. Club members experience a sense of belonging in a group that emphasizes their:

  • intrinsic worth, personal strengths, and potential

  • similarities rather than differences

  • decision making skills and independence

  • leadership ability
